A value of 0 indicates the highest level of protection, while a value of 1 indicates the lowest level of protection; all other levels scale in between these values. The areas of highest value (darkest color) are habitat types that are not well protected in reserves. The area of lowest protection on this map can be found west of Santa Maria and north of the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Preserve.
